Betrayal Knight's Joyful Faith

Chapter 478

Chapter 478

They were used to fighting together, so watching Arendt fight was a familiar sight. But today, Glenn and Rider were realizing something new.Arendt von Eckhart was not normal.

‘You crazy bastard.’

As he cut down the enemy in front of him, Glenn cursed inwardly.

His light movements were even more restrained than usual. His expressionless face seemed, at first glance, bored.

But they knew him well.

Arendt was the kind of person who became calmer the more he was angered.

The silver storm that seemed to guard him and the murderous intent felt at the tip of the sword, mercilessly cutting down enemies, was all the more chilling because it was so refined.

The cold from the Frosty Touch made it difficult to even get close.

With every step Arendt took, white frost blossomed on the floor stained with the blood and flesh of the ghouls.

Even at this very moment, ghouls were pouring out from the summoning circle without stopping, but Arendt was reducing the enemies at an equal speed.

Because of this, Rider and Glenn had no choice but to move desperately to keep up with him.

“Hey, you bastard! Take care of yourself!”

Finally, Rider, unable to bear it any longer, shouted. But all he got was a retort that was calm to the point of arrogance, and all the more infuriating because of it.

“If we drag this out, it will be disadvantageous for us.”

Arendt took a step forward and increased the power of the Frosty Touch.

Silver frost scattered along the path the sword drew, and the ghouls froze in the same position they had been charging in.

Arendt left the enemies trapped in the ice prison and advanced towards the summoning circle.

.

The bodies of the ghouls, unable to withstand the cold, cracked, and then scattered into the air.

“It’s dangerous!”

Glenn shouted again, but Arendt pretended not to hear him.

“You’re noisy, just watch my back.”

“Oh, you shameless little bastard!”

Glenn had no choice but to follow Arendt, even as he hurled insults.

Rider also shattered the persistently charging ghoul and quickly followed the two.

Arendt advanced forward, cutting down his enemies with one hand without even looking at them.

Despite his calm appearance, Arendt was quite angry.

The smell of blood and the cold clinging to his skin should be familiar by now, but today it felt particularly unpleasant.

Perhaps it was because the dormitory was the backdrop to the battlefield.

“Hey, get out of the way!”

Letting out a burst of frustration, Glenn shot forward and switched places with Arendt.

The sword Glenn held gleamed with a clear sword energy.

He had correctly grasped Arendt’s intention to move toward the summoning circle.

While Arendt quickly took a step back, the empty spot was filled by Rider.

The ghoul’s head was cut off cleanly by Rider’s sword.

“Keeeek! Keeeeek!”

The head that fell to the floor screamed.

The headless torso was shattered beyond repair by his subsequent attack.

The head that had been letting out a terrible scream also soon froze stiffly under the influence of the Frosty Touch.

Glenn, supported by his two juniors, charged forward with great force.

Gripping his sword with both hands, he leapt powerfully into the air.

!

The ghoul, stomped down by Glenn, collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud.

“Damn, you’re annoying!”

Hurling curses, Glenn launched himself into the air and swung his sword at the ghouls who were rushing towards him with their jaws agape.

The bones and flesh of the ghouls that were swept away all at once scattered everywhere.

It was a strong blow that left deep grooves on the floor.

“Ugh…!”

Glenn’s face twisted at the tingling pain he felt in his hand.

But it was worth the effort.

The path to the summoning circle opened.

Glenn landed back on the spot and retreated, while Arendt quickly stepped forward.

“Thanks!”

“Can’t you speak with a little more sincerity?”

Ignoring Glenn’s outburst, Arendt turned the ghouls who were trying to regenerate into blocks of ice.

The ghouls scattered, turning into silvery frost. Another enemy charged from behind, but Rider moved first, intercepting it.

Rider’s sword and the ghoul’s fangs clashed head-on.

“I don’t know what you’re going to do, but do it as fast as you can!”

Meanwhile, Arendt approached the door and quickly began examining the summoning circle.

It was a completely different shape from the one that Jiklin used.

It was somewhat strange, considering that her magic circle had also been created by Nikephoros.

‘Is it teleportation?’

It looked more like what Lexion had engraved on the emergency escape artifact.

‘It’s not exactly the same shape as that.’

Arendt placed his hand on the magic circle, activating his Frosty Touch.

!

As soon as his fingers touched it, his hand flew away with a burning pain.

“…!”

Arendt stepped back with a scrunched expression.

It seemed Nikephoros had put up strong defenses to make destroying it difficult.

Judging by the situation, there was a high chance Lexion was caught off guard by Nikephoros.

“Fucking shit.”

Finally, a curse came out of Arendt’s mouth.

It seemed like they were really determined this time.

They’ve entered into a fight that would determine the fate of the Empire and, by extension, the fate of this land.

“Hey, we don’t have time to waste!”

Rider, who had been dealing with the ghouls, shouted anxiously. Only then did Arendt click his tongue, turn around, and readjust his grip.

A sudden vibration caused Arendt to stop in his tracks. Rider and Glenn, who had been fighting frantically, also raised their heads for a moment.

“What?”

The moment when Rider muttered in a dazed manner…

A loud noise was heard again. It was clearly coming from outside the dormitory.

“Is it an attack?”

“No.”

Arendt responded briefly to Glenn’s question.

Given the sheer number of enemies who had turned the entire dormitory into a trap, it seemed unlikely they would launch another attack.

Then…

This time a slightly stronger vibration shook the air.

The barrier, designed to be absolutely indestructible from the inside, appeared to be relatively weak to external impact.

A faint smile crossed Arendt’s lips as he reached a conclusion in his head.

It seemed like a helping hand had been extended from outside.

“Let’s move quickly. We need to get this damn thing sorted out as quickly as possible.”

“What?”

At the unexpected remark, Rider and Glenn simultaneously asked.

“If the barrier breaks like this, these damned monsters will be released into the palace.”

An even harsher frost storm enveloped Arendt.

“So, if you don’t want to write a report later, move quickly.”

“…!”

Only then did Rider and Glenn truly understand what their junior was saying.

An arrow imbued with the power of the spirit collided powerfully with the crimson barrier.

The arrow quickly bounced off, but for a moment, a crack appeared on the otherwise calm surface of the barrier.

“It seems to be working! I guess I can reach it with the power of the spirits!”

A smile appeared on Salem’s face.

“Okay! Then let’s proceed!”

Llewellyn nodded and pulled back the bowstring, activating the artifact again.

A strong wind swept through his hair before converging into the steel arrowhead.

The moment the arrow left the bowstring, Ray and Luna flapped their wings and flew up together as if they had been waiting for the signal.

The arrow, imbued with the power of the Until Dragonborn and the golden magic of the spirits, struck the exact center of the barrier again.

This time, even Llewellyn could clearly see the barrier shaking.

“Damn, what the hell is this…!”

Llewellyn cursed as he pulled out the next arrow.

After more than ten attempts, he finally figured out how to make it work.

Salem, seeing the sweat beading on Llewellyn’s forehead, shouted urgently.

“Don’t push yourself too hard, Llewellyn!”

“I want to do that too!”

But Llewellyn did not stop and took up his bow again.

“If you don’t get him out quickly, that annoying bastard might pull some crazy stunt later.”

He was surprised that he could still crack a joke even in the midst of this.

It was fortunate that he had brought a bunch of magic stones in a hurry, otherwise he would have already collapsed.

This time, when Llewellyn fired his arrows in the same manner, the spirits gave him strength again.

The arrow, which flew with a loud cracking sound, struck the barrier once again.

But there was no sign of the barrier being destroyed.

“Tch…!”

“Prince Llewellyn!”

At that moment, Salem hastily grabbed Llewellyn’s clothes.

“Hey, could you aim for the entrance?”

“Huh?”

Llewellyn, who asked absentmindedly, soon realized one thing.

He was an elf and a spirit master.

Just as the barrier shook, Salem discovered something that Llewellyn had not yet discovered.

“It looked like a human was lying in front of the door. They’re probably dead…”

Salem continued speaking quickly.

“They’re supporting the barrier. I think they’re acting as a magic stone.”

“So, if I hit that thing, I can destroy the barrier?”

The person was probably the one who created the barrier.

Salem nodded vigorously at Llewellyn’s words.

“Yes! I can’t guarantee it, but it’s worth a try! I’ll have Ray and Luna aim for that side too!”

“Alright.”

Llewellyn drew his arrow again and began aiming at where the entrance to the dormitory would be.

But just as he was about to activate the artifact again…

“Keeeeeek!”

A group of ghouls wandering around looking for prey ended up seeing the two.

They were a group that had fled from the main palace where the battle was in full swing.

Llewellyn was eventually forced to change the direction of his arrow.

“Oh, you fucking bastards!”

“Luna, Ray! Stop the enemies!”

Salem also changed his target and commanded the spirits.

It didn’t seem like the fight would end easily.

Just before the battle between the ghouls, Salem, and Llewellyn broke out again…

A tremendous roar erupted from the palace.

“Move! Dodge!”

The soldiers began to retreat hastily, swearing. The guards who had been fighting the ghouls were in the same situation.

They rushed towards the building, dragging along the servants, nobles, and even the injured who had not yet been able to evacuate.

In the midst of the chaos, Laius stood motionless, as if going against the flow of the people.

Laius’ deep eyes were fixed straight on the newly appeared enemy.

Trampling across the beautifully manicured gardens of the palace, a homunculus stood tall in the center of a bright red summoning circle, quietly looking down at him.

It was quite different from other homunculi that had ugly or strange appearances.

The homunculus took on the appearance of a beautiful god, but then it quickly dispersed and collapsed like a disjointed pile of mud.

“Seriously…”

Without taking his eyes off the homunculus, Laius quietly wielded his magical power.

The Holy Sword of the god the hero turned his back on was imbued with a strong sword energy.

He also activated the Shadow of the Strong, a sacred relic created to protect the Chernion Cult in the past.

“It’s so disgusting I can’t look at it.”

Murderous intent flowed from Laius’ mouth.
